The Italian Para – Archery Championships that took place at the Palasport Fontescodella in Macerata from 29 to 30 January were a great opportunity to see the best archers expressed by the Italian Paralympic movement at work, to raise awareness of all citizens on important issues, to testify once again how sport concretely contributes to generating inclusion.
The Tokyo 2020 medalists
The event, organized by FITARCO, from society Sagitta Archers Pesaro and yes Pindaro Events in collaboration with the Municipality of Macerata, it was embellished by the participation of the Tokyo 2020 medalists and by the circumstance of being the last probative test before the call-up for the Outdoor World Championship which will be held in Dubai from 18 to 27 February.
Two days of sport and inclusion
“The city experienced two days of sport and inclusion thanks to FITARCO and the involvement of a hundred athletes who brought not only sporting talent but also stories of strength and courage to the sports hall in Fontescodella; we inaugurated the year of Macerata European City of Sport with an appointment that we hope to be able to repeat in the future – he said the mayor Sandro Parcaroli -. On this occasion we have deepened the knowledge of an inclusive sport, which breaks down barriers and does not create distinctions; now we are preparing to experience the next events that will bring national and international sportsmen and athletes to Macerata ”.
A great show

They excited us, gave us stories of sport and life, incomparable teachings, thanks to the willpower of these phenomenal athletes, their desire to get involved and to compete always and in any case despite the difficulties “commented the Councilor for Sport of the Municipality of Macerata Riccardo Sacchi who added “it was an honor for Macerata to have been chosen by the Italian Archery Federation to host this event with which the year of European City of Sport was officially inaugurated and with great satisfaction. The absolute finals on Sunday afternoon confirmed the XXXV Italian Indoor Para – Archery Championships as a competition characterized by very high competitive and technical content, precisely because in almost all the finals there were challenges between Italian athletes who, in all likelihood, will be protagonists in Dubai after having been at the Tokyo Paralympic Games.
The Olympic class titles
To triumph in the Olympic arc for men Maurizio Mancini of the Frecce Azzurre (with the bronze went to the national archer and silver in Tokyo 2020 Stefano Travisani) e for women Elisabetta My O (Blue Flames), cable to win the tenth overall indoor title in his career. The last act of the competition took place against the teammate of the national team Enza Petrilli (Fiamme Oro), in a stellar final played by two medalists at the last Japanese Paralympics.

The title of Visually Impaired 1 flies to Sicily thanks to the arrows of Davide Chirico of Dyamond Archery Palermo who won the final for gold against Maria Salaris of the Unione Polisportiva Poggibonsese. In Visually Impaired 2/3 he got on the first step of the podium Daniele Piran of the Arco Club Bolzano Vicentino who got the better of the athlete of Sagitta Arcieri Pesaro Annamaria Mencoboni.
