Standard will play behind closed doors against Cercle and La Gantoise

Note that the duel against Ghent is subject to a rescheduling of the Standard-Beerschot match during the month of February, specifies the club.

These empty stands are the consequence of the sanction of two matches behind closed doors imposed by the Disciplinary Council of the Belgian Football Union following the incidents that marred his championship duel against Charleroi on December 5th.

During the Walloon derby between Standard and Charleroi on December 5, referee Nicolas Laforge was forced to put an end to the match after 88 minutes of play because of smoke bombs thrown on the field by Liège supporters. Laforge had already had to interrupt the meeting a few minutes earlier for the same reasons. After the final stoppage of the match, dozens of Standard supporters invaded the lawn towards the block reserved for Charleroi supporters. They then launched bengal fires in the direction of the Charleroi supporters.

On January 13, the disciplinary body of the Belgian Union imposed two meetings behind closed doors on Les Rouches, a sanction accompanied by a fine of 5,000 euros. The Liège club had not contested this decision.
