The Dominican Republic will have the opportunity to revalidate its current status as ‘King of the Caribbean’ on Thursday.
The Cibao Giants got their ticket to the Caribbean Series final on Wednesday night by beating the Charros from Jalisco, Mexico, 2-1, before a full house at the Quisqueya Stadium, Juan Marichal in Santo Domingo.
An excellent pitching job by Tyler Alexander, who pitched eight perfect innings, added to a great offensive job by Moisés Sierra who was in charge of driving in the two winning runs, were enough for the Quisqueyans to put the match in a safe box.
The Giants will now face the Caimanes from Barranquilla, Colombia, who defeated the Navegantes de Magallanes, from Venezuela, in the first hour.
It is the first time that Colombia advances to a final and its third participation in the regional classic.
The Águilas Cibaeñas, from the Dominican Republic, was the winning team of the 2021 Caribbean Series edition.
The clash for the title of the Caribbean classic will be at 7:00 pm
