Sint-Truiden has decided to suspend “indefinitely“his defender Junior Pius after the incidents which occurred between the player and the trudonnaires supporters after the defeat against Charleroi, announced the club on Wednesday evening.
After the final whistle of the backhand against Charleroi last Friday, the fans of Sint-Truiden expressed their dissatisfaction after the performance of their team. Junior Pius and Dennis Schmidt, Bernd Hollerbach‘s assistant, then came to confront the supporters and things got worse after inappropriate gestures from Pius and Schmidt.
After these incidents, the club’s management decided to meet the supporters on Wednesday evening. In a press release, the STVV specifies that it “decided, at the request of the supporters’ delegation, to start building a new commitment from today, with the supporters.“
In addition, both Pius and Schmidt were disciplined. The Nigerian defender is suspended”indefinitely” and was fined 5,000 euros. This money will be used for a good cause. Schmidt is suspended for two games.
“I want to apologize to the supporters. My reaction after the match against Charleroi was totally inappropriate“, reacted Pius, quoted in the statement. “My emotions took over and I let my anger speak. I have to be an example for young footballers who watch STVV matches. I only have respect for the Club and its supporters. I wear the yellow-blue jersey with the same pride as our supporters. Since my arrival at STVV, I have always been 100% committed to this team and I will continue to do so.“
