CANEGRATE (MI) – On the last weekend of January theASD Archers of Roccolo, thanks to the patronage of Municipality of Canegrate, organized two interregional 18-meter indoor archery competitions in the sports facility in via Partigiani, included in the Federal Fitarco calendar.
The Roccolo members worked hard once again to host 160 athletes in the 2 days for a total of four rounds of competition. Eighty young archers faced off in the Saturday match reserved for the youth sector and another eighty archers in the Sunday match.
Saturday’s match saw many young Lombard archers on the shooting line, in particular the afternoon round saw the youth teams of the Emilia Romagna Fitarco Regional Committee compete on the shooting line, away for the occasion, with the antagonistic teams of the Lombardy Regional Fitarco Committee.
The Archers of Roccolo take the opportunity in the formation of the shooting ranges giving a perfect alternation between the athletes of the two representatives and so the orange jerseys of Emilia Romagna alternate with the green and white ones of Lombardy also giving a suggestive chromatic effect.
It is not the usual interregional calendar competition where all the archers know each other and sometimes the results of the rankings are almost obvious, the competitive comparison raises the tension among the boys who, wearing regional jerseys, try to give their best to honor their team. . It is a race with a strong opponent, even just for the mere fact of being away with the regional representative means having been selected among the best.

In the last two years, due to the pandemic, the Regional Committees have had many difficulties with the organization of technical meetings and trips and the opportunities for direct confrontation between young people had been almost totally eliminated. Also for this reason the race took on a particular flavor, that of the desire to continue to pull and confront but above all to restart with the events always in the safety ensured by the rigid anti Covid protocol adopted.
The hallmark of every FITARCO race is fair play and the sporting event runs smoothly down to the last arrow. The final team ranking sees Lombardy prevail in the Junior and Allievi categories for both men and women, while in the boys and girls category, the first step of the podium is won by Emilia Romagna.
The Archers of Roccolo, at the end of the tender, in the presence of the Federal Councilor Mariangela Casartelli, they wanted to pay homage to the two regional representatives with a commemorative plaque that intends to underline, as written, “In sport, a moment can never be the same as another”.
Sunday’s competition, open to all categories, except for the very young, saw another eighty archers compete against each other. Excellent performances and competitive results in general of the home athletes, the performance of the junior men’s compound team, holder of the Italian Indoor 2021 class title and composed of Castelli Leonardo, Carthage Edoardo e Borsani Matteo, closes the 2 races with two excellent scores 578 and 577.
Satisfaction also for the home female compound master team made up of Cantons, Lavazza e Toaiari, Italian Champions in the Targa 2021 and Silver team class at the CI Indoor 2021 and of the senior women’s team composed of Grilli, Fermini e Langianese. Also in the Olympic arc excellent performance for the Senior men’s team for the occasion composed of Borsani Matteo, Salty Michael e Scolieri Lorenzo. This race also served as a test event for all the Roccolo teams in view of the next engagement at the Italian Indoor Championships in Rimini 2022 scheduled for the end of February.
