On Saturday January 22, the Minimes West Zone Cup took place at the Judo on all fronts”>Maison des Arts Martials in Tarbes.
Two of the Tarbes club’s judokas were qualified there.
Jean Segret in his – 55kg category, where there were 12 fighters, finished 2nd in his pool by winning a fight by ippon, then lost to the future winner.
In the quarter-finals, he lost again against the future second, but recovered in the repechages where he won his two matches to finish on the 3rd step of the podium.
Riyad Yvanoff in – 60kg, where 10 judokas fought, won his group by winning by two beautiful ippons.
In the semi-final, he was surprised against the future 2nd and despite having equalized by waza-ari (big advantage) in the fight for 3rd place, he lost again. Our Tarbais therefore ranks 5th.
Note that our two fighters are thus selected for the Coupe d’Occitanie which will take place in Toulouse on February 13th.
