Broadcasting images of the Open Sud de France: where to see and how does it work?

From the Arena control van to our TV channels and computer or smartphone screens, to know everything and understand everything about the broadcast of the Open Sud de France – Montpellier, it’s here…

Around the court, the cameras are agitated this week to offer the best of tennis to viewers around the world in search of sensations. This year, Samir Boudjemaa, managing director of TV Sports Events, the organizer of the Open Sud de France – Montpellier, and his teams have achieved a rare thing: giving all of the matches on central court Patrice-Dominguez (22 in the total) in three different ways on one screen.

The Montpellier ATP 250 tournament benefits from the coverage of beIN SPORTS, viàOccitanie as well as the digital platforms of the L’Équipe channel. Knowing in addition that these last two possibilities are accessible free of charge to viewers. “We owe it to our sponsors, explains Samir Boudjemaa, to be broadcast worldwide via ATP Media and widely in France and in the regions.”

viaOccitanie, live and on set

In the region, via Occitanie (on Canal 30 on Boxes; 31 or 33 on TNT and on https://viaoccitanie.tv) broadcasts the images of the Montpellier tournament free of charge on its antenna, live and continuously, every day from the Sud de France Arena.

The set teems from morning to evening with the encounters of the day. Technicians, journalists, consultants and guests follow one another, from live broadcasts such as the

” target=”_blank”>Unbreak “to bring to life in the best and dynamic way an event which is becoming more and more important for us”, reveals Thierry Crouzet, the editorial director. There are about ten of them in total working on set with the common desire to embody things “again and always. A leitmotif for viàOccitanie since the start of the last school year. And it works very well if we judge the channel’s audiences always growing.

A specification of five cameras

But to get there, in front of our screen, we have to go back to the source. And the source is contained in a tiny space: a broadcast van located outside, a stone’s throw from the courts. To transmit the signal, TV Sports Events launched a call for tenders and, for the past two years, the company Léni Productions has been producing the images. “There are a dozen of us working on the product from morning to evening all week, explains director Emmanuel Bertaina, freelancer and great specialist in sporting events (football, enduro, archery, tennis, etc.). . We meet the specifications which require in particular the presence of at least five cameras (wide, tight, close to the net, portable…)” and under the eyes of an ATP Media manager who ensures the good distribution of images for the international. Because a soap opera like that of the ATP attracts millions of viewers each year and deserves the greatest attention.

The broadcast of the Grand Slams

No change this year in the broadcast of the Grand Slams (ATP and WTA). As for several seasons, beIN SPORTS will offer Wimbledon (until 2023). Eurosport will continue to broadcast the Australian Open, whose rights were renewed last September for ten years, as well as the US Open, for the last edition provided for in the contract signed in 2017.

Finally, France Télévisions and Amazon share the rights to the Roland Garros tournament until 2023. As a reminder, the public channels will broadcast the exchanges from 11 a.m., except for the matches at the Simonne-Mathieu court and the evening sessions, boxes which in 2021, on Amazon Prime, often hosted beautiful posters for ladies and gentlemen, including two quarter-finals.
