After the last day of the swimming tournament corresponding to the XX National Sports Games, María Victoria Yegres with ten gold medals and representing the state of Miranda, and Emil Pérez with six, from Caracas, became the most outstanding of this aquatic specialty whose competitions were carried out with a program of four days in the swimming pool complex of the United Nations Park, in the El Paraíso parish, where the Miranda team obtained first place by entities.

On the last day, Yegrez dominated the 50-meter butterfly (28 seconds, 26 hundredths), the 400m (4 minutes, 26 seconds, 74 hundredths) and the 400 mixed relay (4m, 12s, 55cs), together with Sebastián Terán, Jeshua Trejo and Anabella Díaz, reported the National Sports Institute (IND) in a press release.

At just 16 years old, the swimmer has international experience since last season she successfully participated in the Junior Pan American Games, staged in Cali, Colombia.

“I feel quite happy with the results, I think we have achieved what we expected, the team is very happy, I consider it to be one of the best competitions we have experienced in Venezuela,” the swimmer told the IND press team.

In the men’s tournament, Emil Pérez, in addition to the half dozen gold medals, also obtained four silver medals, said that “we came out ahead in each test, it is an honor to represent and contribute to Caracas appearing in the first places of the classification”.

Miranda maintained his dominance in this type of aquatic sports, which he led with 27 gold, 19 silver and 12 bronze for a total of 58, a key harvest for this representation to appear in first place in the medal table of the Games. The second rung of the swimming tournament was occupied by the Caracas team, with 11 gold, 12 silver and 11 bronze trophies, making a total of 34, followed by Carabobo (2+5+13=20), Anzoátegui (1+ 1+0=2), Lara (0+1+2=3), Yaracuy and Portuguesa (0+1+1=2), Aragua (0+1+0=1) and Bolívar (0+0+1= one).

Cojedes champion in coleo and badminton

Coleus and badminton specialties gave the Cojedes state a boost in the medal table. The collectors Wilson Llovera, Ricardo Peña, Jesús Cabrera, Balois Ayala and Eliézer Rincón added four gold and one silver, winning the team, individual, best equine and equine most goalkeeper tournaments, in the La Monumental Layret Flores competition staged in manga , in San Juan de Los Morros, Guarico.

Rojas and García met in the final of the women’s singles tournament with victory for the former and made a pair in women’s doubles to defeat Dhayriana Bolívar and Fiorela Trejo, representatives of Trujillo, in the decisive instance, Cojedes also won in mixed doubles. Mérida took second place in the team category with a pair of golds, Trujillo finished with one gold and eight bronzes, and Yaracuy one bronze, the same as Guárico.
