SANTO DOMINGO.- The Sanctuary of Fame for Dominican Judo (SAFAMA) held its first exaltation, with immortality corresponding to the discipline’s pioneers Priamo Morel Franco, Sixto Rafael Inchaustegui Rodriguez and Bayoan Pou Arredondo.
For the choice, Safama took into account the trajectory, achievements and perseverance in martial discipline at the beginning of the practice as pioneers in the mid-1940s.
Morel Franco was represented by his grandson Bryan Morel, Inchaustegui Rodriguez by his children Sixto and Clara, while Pou Arredondo, present, accompanied by his wife Magaly Mieses de Pou.
Jaime Casanova Martínez introduced the act indicating the programming to be followed to immediately pass the word to the president of the entity, Alquimedes Ortiz Cruz, who referred to the quality of the exalted ones to indicate the future of the guidelines that begin their actions in the area of recognition to those who really deserve the distinction in Dominican judo.
A discussion was then opened with relatives of Priamo Morel (1924-2000) and Sixto Inchaustegui (1930-2008) referring to the anecdotes of both exponents in their practice of judo, family, personal, in short, a story that everyone listened to with real attention.
For his part, Pou Arredondo intervened to recall the practice of Judo in the mid-1940s with uniforms that his mother made by hand, having as practice places the patios of houses, and nearby beaches, without neglecting the constancy of each one. of them and their contributions.
He recalled the physical strength of Priamo Morel and the extensive knowledge of Sixto in various disciplines in addition to judo, wrestling, boxing, in short, a lover of combat sports and martial arts that accompanied him all his life.
The delivery of plaques was in charge of Ortiz Cruz, Casanova Martinez and José Rodriguez Familia in their capacities as president, secretary and member of the Sanctuary of Fame of Dominican Judo.
The coordination of the event was in charge of Fanny Mendoza Camejo.
