23 disciplines for Mauritius at the next JIOI

Mauritius will engage in 23 disciplines at the next Indian Ocean Island Games in Madagascar in 2023. This was announced during the first working meeting between the Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Sports and Recreation, the Mauritian Olympic Committee and sports federations, Monday, January 31 at the Citadelle Mall.

The 23 disciplines include athletics including disabled sports, badminton, basketball, boxing, cycling, horse riding, football, beach soccer, weightlifting, handball, judo, karate, Kick-boxing, wrestling, swimming, pétanque, rugby, taekwondo, archery, tennis, table tennis, sailing, volleyball, beach volleyball and surfing. However, the commitment of at least three countries is required upon registration so that these disciplines can be maintained.

The Minister of Youth Empowerment, Sports and Leisure, Stéphan Toussaint asked the various leaders of the federations concerned to prepare their athletes so that they can be ready on D-Day and so that they can achieve the objective set. which is “Go for gold in Mada…”
