Change of coach in Düsseldorf – Preusser has to go – Sport

Second division soccer team Fortuna Düsseldorf separates from coach Christian Preusser in acute danger of relegation. This was initially reported on Monday evening by the Düsseldorf Express, the Rheinische Post followed shortly thereafter. Both media name the former HSV coach Daniel Thioune as the successor. There was no confirmation from the club at first, according to reports it should take place on Tuesday. On Sunday, the traditional Rhenish club lost 1-0 to Holstein Kiel with a goal in added time. It was the fourth loss in a row without a goal. According to RP, Christian Weber from his own scouting department will also replace the recently dismissed sports director Uwe Klein. Preusser, 38, had signed a contract with Fortuna that ran until June 30, 2023. Born in Berlin, he had successfully looked after the U23s of Bundesliga club SC Freiburg for the past five years. At the beginning of the season, Fortuna surprisingly gave him their trust as head coach.
