Washington and Dallas were among the most active franchises heading into the trade deadline and the two teams decided to do business together. Kristaps Porzingis is coming to DC in exchange for Spencer Dinwiddie and Davis Bertans! WTF!
Shams Bomb!! A minute in advance obliges (sorry Woj’), the insider of The Athletic tweeted out a tweet that turned the Wizards and Mavs fanbases upside down. The Capital franchise was looking to get stronger and the names of Domantas Sabonis and Jerami Grant had come out in the media. The first sent to the Kings, the second retained by the Pistons, so a credible alternative had to be found. It is finally Kristaps Porzingis who will come to wear the starry jersey and it is quite a surprise since his name had not filtered in recent days (apart from a quick tweet with Dragic). To reclaim All-Star interior, Washington trades Spencer Dinwiddie and Davis Bertans and something tells us that shouldn’t make Capital One Arena fans cry.

We start on a real bet on both sides and it looks intriguing. For Washington, we get rid of two bulletproof contracts (17 million for Dinwiddie and 16 for Bertans), two players who are completely off the mark this season and it recovers an All-Star (and a second round draft pick) who can did with Bradley Beal. A move to reassure the rear about the competitiveness of his franchise and encourage him to extend this summer? We will see if Bealou is convinced because the Unicorn is not the player who brings the most guarantees. Certainly, there is better this season with Jason Kidd at the helm but it remains very irregular and there are always these visits to the infirmary each season (already 21 games missed since the resumption). On the Texan side, it is surprising to see the departure of a holder when the franchise had found its rhythm in the West. With Jalen Brunson who joined the five, the arrival of a ball handler with the reserve could make sense and everyone was waiting for the signing of a Goran Dragic, transferred to Spurs and soon released by them. It is finally Spencer Dinwiddie who arrives and we will see if he is able to find the level he had in Brooklyn. If so, Dallas can manage Brunson’s Free Agency by being a little more relaxed. For Davis Bertans, it’s even worse since he disappeared more and more from the radar, the fault of a shoot from the parking lot on vacation and a defense still as dirty. In Dallas, he should be able to take advantage of Luka Doncic’s shifts to recover the blind from open shots. Let’s hope for the Texan fans that this is enough to turn the machine back on because he has three years left on his contract after this one. Note that Moses Brown had to be cut to make room for the new duo.
Kristaps Porzingis is coming to team up with Bradley Beal and Spencer Dinwiddie and Davis Bertans are going to relaunch in Dallas! We are starting on a big bet on both sides, see you in a few months to take stock.
