On Wednesday February 9, the Simone-Weil high school badminton team in Le Puy-en-Velay, accompanied by their teachers Magali Fraisse and Olivier Berry, won the UNSS badminton academic championship.
The mixed team made up of Romain Audiard, Matéo Placide, Liloé Vignal, Anaé Boujahan and Albin Bertrand won the gold medal by finishing first ahead of the Banville de Moulins high school.
The young players played great matches all day in Cusset in the Allier and brilliantly won the first group stage of the classification. The semi-final was closer against the Blaise de Vigenère high school in Saint-Pourçain-sur-Sioule but it was also won by the ponot baddies. The final proved to be full of uncertainty until the last minute when the famous decisive mixed doubles but which was fiercely snatched by the ponot high school.
Nice revenge because two years ago, before the health crisis, the boys of the same team had obtained 3rd place and were only waiting for this day to obtain the famous sesame which opens the doors to national competition.
The Simone-Weil high school team will therefore have to defend the colors of the high school, Haute-Loire and the Clermont-Ferrand academy at the French championships in Blois in March.
