Roger Schmidt is happy for Noni Madueke. The English teenager made his comeback for PSV on Tuesday evening in the cup match against NAC Breda (4-0) and immediately opened the score.
Madueke has only played four games for PSV since mid-October and suffered another muscle injury on December 9. He made his comeback in the won cup match with NAC. Schmidt put him in the starting line-up and saw the English attacker score immediately.
“Noni played great at the beginning of this season. It was unbelievable how good he was,” said the PSV coach, who gave Madueke half, at the press conference. “We now have to bring him back to that level. Nothing has happened, that is also very important for his confidence. He played well today, it was a very good first step.”
Schmidt was also satisfied with PSV’s game against NAC, which could have lost by double figures in the quarterfinals of the KNVB Cup. “The players were very focused. That was the best thing for me to see in view of Saturday’s game against Vitesse.”
