The event of the Lunellois club, unique in Occitania, brought together 20 clubs and 130 badistes on Sunday, February 6, at the Alain-le-Hétet market.
Despite the restrictions due to the health crisis, the fourth edition of the €1 Tournament organized by the Badminton club of Lunel (BCL) took place this Sunday, February 6. The only one in this format in Occitania, the meeting brought together a total of twenty clubs and 130 badminton players at the Alain-le-Hétet hall.
“Unlike other tournaments this season, there have not been too many withdrawals due to the Covid, which leads to difficult ad hoc management. Sunday everything went very smoothly and we had very good feedback”, welcomes Sylvain Reveaud, president of the club.
In addition, the participants benefited from the expertise of the referee. “He promoted the game for everyone. With pools between four and seven teams, each player had three games, which is more than adequate for the price of one euro”, adds the manager.
Fit Lunellois
Indeed with this preferential rate, the club wants to offer a first gateway to novices. Which in the Covid period raised concerns about the profitability of the event. “The good surprise is that the accounts are almost in balance whereas we expected losses. The only negative point is that we did not manage to capture the neo-badists”, note the president.
As a result, the level of play in the tournament was quite high with good departmental and regional sizes. This did not prevent the Lunellois from winning three podiums. In men’s doubles, Mohamed Mahmoudi and Rémi Larnaudi took second place on the series 3 podium. Second place also in series 5 for the duo Samuel Bensadoun and Olivier Castells. Finally, in mixed series 3, Isabelle Vergues and Gwendal Sénéchal are also second.
