The Limburgers were by no means intimidated by Chelsea, which is by far the most successful team in the history of the Youth League with two overall victories and two lost finals.

Genk got off to a good start and took the lead after 18 minutes via Sekou Diawara. In the second half, Jay-Dee Geusens doubled the lead from the penalty spot before the hour.

Genk had the game completely in their hands and not much later Diawara made the nets tremble again: 3-0. Chelsea seemed defeated, although Lewis Hall could still soften with a striking eleven meters.

But it turned out to be nothing more than a savior. In fact, Genk cut the knife a little deeper in the final phase: Adnane Abid and Dario Cutillas Carpe completed the stunt victory: 5-1.

The Genk youngsters are doing what the youngsters of Club Brugge could not do earlier in the day. Club NXT gave up a 0-2 lead in Denmark against Midtjylland and is finished in Europe.
