The tennis player Rafael Nadalwinner of the recent Australian Open, will participate in the Balearic Mid-Amateur Men’s and Women’s Golf Championships which will be held this weekend at the Alcanada Golf Club in the Majorcan town of Puerto de Alcudia.
Nadal, the first tennis player in history to win 21 Grand Slam titles, is one of the 96 registered golfers who will participate in the tournament, according to the official list published by the Balearic Golf Federation.
The last golf tournament in which Nadal participated was last November in the final of the FBG Hexagonal Circuit. Then, he represented his Manacor academy at the T Golf Country Club course in Calviá (Mallorca) forming part of a team that was also made up of his uncle and former Barcelona player Miquel Ángel Nadal, Antonio de Luca and Peter Mason.
Nadal, a great golf fan and who has a handicap similar to that of a professional player (-1.2), and his teammates ranked fifth. Considered the best Spanish athlete in history, Nadal rests in Mallorca before deciding whether to play the Acapulco (February 21-26) and Indians Wells (March 7-20) tournaments.
