CATFISH. Great joy for judo champion Judo Austria”>LZ Multikraft Wels. The club, which was particularly successful in 2021, was awarded the Judo Austria AwardClub of the Year” by the professional association (ÖJV). Due to Corona, the trophy could not be presented at a gala evening. Nevertheless, there was a celebration in the Budokan after a messenger had brought the trophy.

The Bundesliga team brought the championship crown back to Wels after 44 years. Earlier at the Tokyo Olympics, there was huge cheering over Shamil Borchashvili’s bronze medal. The heart of the traditional club, which has existed since 1955, is the youngsters: 120 children and young people are looked after by eight certified coaches in the Budokan. What young talent advisor Michael Winkler and talent promoter Willi Reizelsdorfer are particularly proud of: “We are currently looking after as many young judokas in the Budokan Wels as we did before the corona pandemic.”
