Novak Djokovic is welcome to the ATP tournament in Monte Carlo, which will be played from 9 to 17 April… if he respects the corona rules of the French government.
Tournament director Zeljko Franulovic announced this. “To enter France, the first rule is that you must be vaccinated,” Franulovic said. Djokovic should therefore not count on a medical exemption.
“The ATP protocol also offers the possibility to issue a certificate of corona infection a month before the start of the tournament. And as far as I know, Djokovic is currently not vaccinated.”
Still, the tournament director does not want to personally attack the number 1 in the world. “As soon as he is in order, we will welcome him with open arms,” he says. “We hope Djokovic will be there, but a tournament is more important than one player.”
Djokovic caused a controversy just before the start of the Australian Open, which revolved around his vaccination status. After a saga that lasted 10 days, the unvaccinated Serb had to leave the country.
