Vinogradov finishes 44th in Olympic doubles debut / Article

Vinogrodov completed 10 km of cross-country skiing in 34 minutes and 34.4 seconds. The Latvian athlete was 9 minutes and 26.7 seconds behind the leader. The Latvian had to start five minutes and 12 seconds behind the leader in the skiing distance.

German athlete Vincent Geiger won the gold medal in the northern duel, who was in 11th place after the springboard. He finished skiing in 25 minutes and 7.7 seconds.

The second place and the silver medal were won by the Norwegian Jergens Grobaks, who took the 9th place after the springboard jumping and lost only 0.8 seconds to the leader in skiing. The podium was closed by the Austrian Lucas Griderer. He was the second place winner in the downhill jumping, but 6.6 seconds behind the leader in skiing.

The best in the springboard was Japan’s Riot Jamamoto, who jumped 108 meters, reaching 133 points. Jamamoto finished the ski distance only in 14th place.

In the spring jump, Vinogradov scored 72 meters, scoring a total of 55 points.

Vinogradov’s leap

Vinogradov overtook one of the participants in the springboard by the result, while Terens Weber did not leave Germany for the start, but the Frenchman Antoine Gerard was disqualified.

Nordic duel consists of two disciplines – spring jumping and 10 kilometers of cross-country skiing. The points obtained in the spring jump determine the starting order and handicaps for the ski discipline.

Vinogradov made his Olympic debut only at the age of 19.

Latvia was last represented in the Olympic Games 86 years ago.

The Beijing Olympics in China will run until February 20.
