The competition was greatly affected by heavy rainfall, with 33 athletes not reaching the finish line in snowy weather. Due to the weather, the qualifying stage of snowboarding in the slalom discipline for women was even postponed on Saturday morning.

Latvian athlete Miks Zvejnieks showed the 33rd best result among 54 finishing athletes in heavy conditions, with the leader Marko Odermat conceding by 6.66 seconds. In the middle of the distance, after one of the “gates”, the Fisherman almost slipped off the track, but the Latvian skilfully kept his balance, continuing the journey without significant error.

After the first race, the Swiss is Marko Odermats, who is currently also the leader of the World Cup season overall in the discipline of giant slalom. The second place is taken by the Austrian athlete Stefan Bresttainer (+0.04), and the third is the Frenchman Matier Fever (+0.08).

Henry Christophersen (Norway), the silver medalist in the giant slalom in Pyongyang, will also continue to fight for the podium. He is only 0.12 seconds behind the leader.

On the other hand, several other high-class athletes (Alexander Schmidt from Germany, Justin Murray from Switzerland) did not qualify for the second trip due to poor visibility. The weather also had a negative effect on a number of skiers who did not claim a high place, making mistakes very quickly.

The second trip is expected at 7.45. Only those athletes who reached the finish in the first race will start there. The first 30 athletes will take part in the race first, with the 30th place owner going to the track first. The owner of the 31st to 54th place will then cover the distance.
