Last December, a Snapchat screenshot circulated on Twitter showing NAC wants to attract a replacement if Haye leaves”>Banzuzi indicating that he would be playing his last game for NAC. NAC was not aware of this and, in order to protect the midfielder, have moved him back to the Under-18s. It was rumored that Banzuzi was on his way to FC Utrecht. Now the situation seems to be going in a completely different direction. As Edwin de Graaf indicated on the site last week, Banzuzi now seems to be really going to sign. According to BN DeStem, this would be about a 2.5-year contract, with which Banzuzi will be fixed in Breda until the summer of 2024.
NAC’s narrower roster this season has allowed Banzuzi to make his debut for NAC 1. This has not gone unnoticed as he was called up to the Orange Under-17 squad, where he even scored two goals in his debut against Mexico. After that, things went really fast for Banzuzi: he sat on the bench at NAC-1 every week, was occasionally in the starting line-up and was able to enjoy the attention of many (sub)top clubs. FC Utrecht was the most concrete and seemed to be drawing the longest straw. This does not seem to be the case now.
With 8 matches in the league and 2 matches in the cup, Banzuzi has already achieved a lot for someone who will only be 17 next week. It remains only to wait for his first involvement in a goal for NAC.
