(Belga) Thomas Detry finished 54th in the Ras Al Khaimah Classic, a two million dollar golf DP World Tour event played at the Al Hamra course in Ras al Khaimah, United Arab Emirates, in the end of the 4th and last round, Sunday. The victory went to New Zealander Ryan Fox.
Detry returned a final card of 69, three under par, after six birdies, including five in a row between the 4th and 8th hole, and three bogeys. He moved up five positions to 54th, with a total of 280, eight under par. Solid leader with 6 strokes ahead before the last lap, Fox did not shake. The 35-year-old New Zealander turned in a three-under final card that included five birdies and two bogeys. His total of 266, 22 under par, allows him to win with five strokes ahead of Englishman Ross Fisher. A trio share third place with six strokes: the German Hurly Long, the South African Zander Lombard and the Spaniard Pablo Larrazabal. This is the second success on the DP World Tour circuit, formerly known as the European Tour, for Fox. It was the second tier tournament played in Ras al Khaimah, which filled the hole left in the schedule by the postponement later in the season of the Qatar Masters. Last week, Detry distinguished himself on this same course by finishing in ninth place, his best result at the start of the season. Dane Nicolai Hojgaard won. (Belga)
