Ligue 1: Bordeaux, the worst defense in Europe, loses to Lens and continues its descent into hell

The change of coach did nothing. Only a few days after the dismissal of their coach Vladimir Petkovic, the Girondins de Bordeaux hoped but their efforts did not pay off (3-2), Sunday, on the lawn of the Stade Bollaert-Delelis in Lens. The Northerners had not won for three games, in all competitions.

This 13th defeat of the season for the last of Ligue 1 is accompanied by a sad record, that of the worst defense of the five major European championships, with now 61 goals conceded in 24 days. For its part, Lens returns to the top 10 (8th) and returns to one point behind Stade Rennais, 5th in the standings.

It only took ten short minutes to see the Lensois open the scoring, through Arnaud Kalimuendo on a center back which nevertheless seemed innocuous as the Girondins were present in number in their area. The score was then quickly worsened thanks to Gael Kakuta from the penalty spot (22nd). Then, Seko Fofana cracked a sublime outside right foot to break before halftime (25th).

Aucun clean sheet

It was then that Jaroslav Plasil, interim coach pending the arrival of David Guion, decided to change the system by moving to three defenders behind. A paid tactic, since its players managed to make the Lensois doubt. Alberth Elis first reduced the score on a block (32nd), before Hwang Ui-Jo scored a second goal full of hope, in pivot, in the second half (52nd).

Unfortunately for Bordeaux, the solidity of Lens finally made the difference. In addition to the defeat, the Girondins have therefore conceded three additional goals, in their average, and 18 goals in their last four games. In addition, there has been no clean sheet since the start of the season, an anomaly in Europe.
