Brad Binder calls Mandalika a crazy racetrack, the circuit layout is really cool and lots of fast corners, making the rider lean more than upright.

Mandalika, runganSportRed Bull KTM Factory Racing Driver, Brad Binder praised the layout of the newly built Mandalika circuit in Central Lombok.

Mandalika becomes venue addition to this new season in the MotoGP racing calendar.

MotoGP riders tested Mandalika for the first time for three days this weekend.

The first day of the Pre-season test was filled with drama of dust and dirt on the asphalt.

However, at the end of the first day Binder managed to break into the top three timesheet, The South African racer was 0.5 seconds behind the best lap time achieved by the Repsol Honda rider, Pol Espargaro.

“It’s a pretty crazy race location here, but the track is really cool,” say Binder after the first day of testing, as reported Speedweek.

“The track was dirty at the start. It’s hard to get a clean ideal track and racing line.

Even if you widen a bit, you’ll end up on the ground. But I hope things get better and better over the weekend.” he continued hope.

Because this is a new circuit, it still needs used tires on the racing line to be able to go better.

“The track just needs more scrap rubber. The surface is very slippery, the front wheel is easy to break.

It was also difficult at first to learn the track. You are not always on the ideal racing line. You can barely build confidence going wide.” admit Binder.

At the beginning of the first day yesterday, the racer had to clean the circuit for 20 laps, this was the right decision according to the South African man.

“But the decision to let us ride here today was a good one.

Faster tracks at the end of the day. We will see the development next Saturday, ” he insisted.

The Mandalika circuit is a typical flowing track, the straights are not long and there are many corners.

“Home straights aren’t very long, nor are back straights, because you get there from a combination of angles on the corner and at high speed. If you straighten the motor, the braking point is there again, ” clear Binder.

“You are often in a tilted position. It’s a strange track, barely comparable to other circuits in my opinion.

There are many high-speed sharp turns. In the end I really enjoyed it, at first it was very intense.” admit the winner of the 2021 Spielberg Grand Prix.
