BUENOS AIRES, Feb 13 (Reuters) – Eduardo Romero, considered one of the most outstanding Argentine golfers in his country, died on Sunday at the age of 67, reported the Cordoba municipality of Villa Allende, the city where he lived and from which he was mayor since 2015.

“It is with great pain that we inform you that our Mayor, Eduardo Romero, has just passed away. We are going to miss you, dear ‘Gato’,” the municipality published on its official Facebook account.

“El Gato”, as Romero was called, won 74 titles in his career as a golfer, among which the United States Open for veterans in 2008 stood out.

The former golfer suffered health problems several months ago, aggravated by COVID-19, for which he obtained a license in his position as mayor in the town in the central province of Córdoba.
