The tile for Newcastle who loses Kieran Trippier, victim of a broken foot

Newcastle full-back Kieran Trippier, released early in the second half against Aston Villa (1-0) on Sunday, suffers from a broken left foot which should rule him out for several matches, the club announced on Monday . “Trippier (31) had an X-ray immediately after the match which revealed a fracture of the 5th metatarsal of the left foot”, a long bone on the outside of the foot, explained the club in their press release.

The player “will be unavailable for future matches”, adds the club without further details on the duration.

The English international, flagship rookie of the Magpies during the winter transfer window, had scored the winning goal against the Villans in the 35th before being injured and leaving in the 48th.

He had also scored in the victory against Everton (3-1), in midweek, and had inherited the captain’s armband.

Thanks to three straight league victories, after having recorded only one in 20 games before that, Newcastle managed to extricate themselves from the red zone, with 4 points ahead of Norwich, the first relegation.
