Omar Quintero, coach of the Mexican Basketball Team, presented the final list of players who will go to the second window of the FIBA ​​Basketball World Cup 2023 Qualifiers.

The Tricolor’s games will be in Havana against Cuba (February 24) and Washington against the United States (February 27), undoubtedly two extremely complicated visits.

On January 25, the preliminary list of 25 players was presented and this Monday everything was reduced to the final list with the 14 definitive representatives.

At the press conference, the coach assured that if they have already beaten the United States once, they can do it again, even as visitors.

“I trust the boys, I’m not surprised by what they did in Chihuahua. Now we’re going as visitors but I have full confidence in my players, that’s the chemistry. We’ve already tasted victory, and we know that if we can beat (the United States ),” he commented.

Carlos Lazo, one of the businessmen who provide financial support, confirmed that everything is ready for the trips.

“The tickets, the hotel, the salaries of the players are already there. Everything is already there. Hopefully this will lead him to fulfill a dream and a goal”, Lazo, also CEO of Hoy Capital.

Orlando Méndez, the Mexican national team, assured that their motivation is clear: “We are going to fight for ourselves, for Mexico and for basketball.”

On the other hand, Omar Quintero confirmed that Juan Toscano Anderson will be part of the Mexican team sooner or later, although he will not be able to be in these games.

“Juan is our benchmark in the NBA. I take the opportunity to congratulate him because he will be in the All-Star. He has all the willingness, he already told me he is going to come. We are going to wait for him here, since he finishes his commitments that stops him” .
