Better non-vaccination than tennis trophies!
Superstar Novak Djokovic (34) remains true to his anti-vaccination attitude. The Serb confirmed this in an exclusive interview with “BBC”.
The entry fiasco for world number one Novak Djokovic was the topic in January. First he announced that he would be allowed to play at the Australian Open on a “medical exemption”, then he was expelled from the country due to his lack of vaccination when entering Australia.
Now Djokovic spoke exclusively with the British broadcaster “BBC”. He said, among other things, that he should not be associated with the anti-vaccination movement. Instead, he supports the right of the individual to choose freely whether to be pricked or not.
Will he also forego participation in competitions such as Wimbledon and the French Open because of this attitude? “Yes, that’s the price I’m willing to pay,” said Djokovic.
The 20-time Grand Slam winner also said he hopes “to have many more years to play.” At the same time, he confirmed that he would not give up the chance to become statistically the greatest tennis player of all time. Djokovic rival Rafael Nadal (35) has won 21 Grand Slams – more than anyone else (Roger Federer, 40, also 20 titles).
The reason for his decision: “Because the principles of decision-making are more important to my body than any title or anything else. I try to be as in tune with my body as possible.”
