Valladolid has been the capital of Spain of judo during this weekend. The Pilar Fernández Valderrama sports center hosted the Spanish Cadet Judo Cup this Sunday with excellent results for the Lourdes-Aspasia club from Valladolid.
Irene Catalá won the gold in -48 kilos after beating the three rivals she had to face on her way to the top of the podium by Ippon. In the first place, she would manage to defeat Silvares from Zamora thanks to the Tate Shio Gatame technique. In the semifinals she would face the Galician Fernandez whom she would defeat with Koshi Guruma. In the grand finale, she managed to defeat Garcia from Burgos through Ippon by Hon Kesa Gatame.

Mario Alonso, silver in -60 kg. Spain Cadet Cup
For his part, Mario Alonso won the silver medal in -60 kilos. In his first fight he would manage to defeat the Galician Lago by sanctions. In the quarterfinals, he faced Madrid’s Salgado, whom he defeated by Ippon de Ko Uchi Gari. The semifinals would be against the Basque Parra, who would also win by Ippon using the Seoi Nage technique. However, he would not achieve the same result in the final in which the Galician Tato defeated him by Ippon strangulation.
He would not have the same luck as his Lourdes-Aspasia teammates Gabriel Martínez Horna. The man from Valladolid, third among the participants of the club led by Pedro Riaguas, would be eliminated in the repechage rounds in the -66 kilos category.
