Tokyo Verdy Officially recruited Indonesian national team defender Primary Arhan with a free transfer status on Wednesday (16/2). It turned out that the Japanese League’s second caste club had been stalking Arhan since last year.
Arhan officially joined Tokyo Verdy after being released for free from PSIS Semarang. The 20-year-old defender signed a two-year contract with Tokyo Verdy.
Through the club’s official website, Tokyo Verdy admitted that he had been eyeing Arhan for a long time. The Japanese J2 League’s second caste club even wanted to recruit Arhan long before the 2020 AFF Cup was held.
“We have been considering and negotiating for a deal since August last year,” the party wrote Tokyo Verdy.
At first Tokyo Verdy wanted to give Arhan a chance to test. But now the left-back who was born in Blora, Central Java, has officially joined Tokyo Verdy on a free transfer from PSIS Semarang.
“Due to the spread of the new variant of the corona virus, we cannot come directly to negotiate or invite in training if [Arhan] come to Japan. Then now, we absolutely agree,” said Tokyo Verdy’s official statement.
Meanwhile, the CEO of PSIS Semarang, Yoyok Sukawi, said that Arhan would be under contract until 2024 at Tokyo Verdy. PSIS, Yoyok said, was willing to release Arhan for free to Tokyo Verdy for the sake of the player’s career development.
“Today, with pride and pleasure, we announce that the PSIS wonderkid has graduated from the PSIS academy, Pratama Arhan is officially released to Japanese club Tokyo Verdy,” said Yoyok.
“In accordance with PSIS’s commitment, we released Arhan without a fee of a single rupiah. This is for the sake of Arhan’s career. This is also a matter of pride for PSIS because his academy graduates can be glimpsed by Japanese clubs,” continued Yoyok.
