What happened?
This Tuesday the Government through the Undersecretary of Public Health, María Teresa Valenzuela, confirmed that the protocol announced by the Ministry of Education for the return to face-to-face classes is being reviewed, which eliminated the capacity in the rooms and generated criticism for part of the College of Teachers.
What did he say?
On Meganews ConnectValenzuela said that “yesterday we just met with the advisory council and we are polishing some aspects that are very relevant and obviously it is extraordinarily easy to get along with the Ministry of Education to rethink some points.”
As he commented, among what will be reassessed are “physical distancing, which is very relevant, especially in the face of these latest variants that have been extraordinarily transmissible. Also the issue of capacity that we must discuss from the perspective of Health.”
“Another relevant point is what we are going to agree on regarding the use of masks, in schools, from what age, who, are points that must be discussed,” he raised.
On the other hand, he recalled that “we have a population that is highly protected from six years of age and older and we know that from vaccination coverage, on the other hand, a protocol has been carried out that is quite strict regarding epidemiological surveillance (… ), management of outbreaks, closeness between the regional ministerial secretariats of Health and Education, which has to provide much more security. We also have a population of teachers, parents and administrators who are also already vaccinated.”
“The situation in which the children are going to enter the school, please, give security to the parents,” he said.
This is not the time to lower the restrictions
On the other hand, when asked about the possibility of gradually eliminating the restrictions, Valenzuela stated that the time is not yet.
“It is not the time yet, because our country has population conditions that are different from what countries as developed as the United Kingdom, Denmark and Sweden have, they have a different health system,” he concluded.
