Meanwhile Luca Spanu has achieved the first dan black belt
Qualification for the Italian Judo Cadet Championships for Marica Spanu. The young athlete of the GS Judo Terralba company finished first in the +70 category last Sunday in Arborea and therefore snatched the pass for the national finals scheduled in Rome on March 6th.
Another athlete from Terralba, Luca Spanu, Marica’s uncle, earned the black belt first dan after about 20 years of competitive career.
In recent years Spanu has performed well throughout Italy, also winning prestigious titles.
“A fair recognition for his career,” commented his coach Giovanni Spanu, who in the past has fought at the top for over 30 years, with the title of third dan.
Giovanni is Luca’s elder brother and he is also Marica’s father. Today the coach is in charge of training children aged three and up, but also prepares the agonists for the various competitions at national level.
