Last Friday, the first ordinary annual meeting of the General Executive Council of the Patagonian Sports Entity (EPADE) culminated in the city of Bariloche, which was chaired by the new president, Diego Rosati, and in which the Undersecretary of Sports Gabriel Coto was present, representing the the province of Tierra del Fuego.
After several meetings and debates, the Executive Council finally announced the creation of new sports games aimed at young athletes from Patagonia, with new sports disciplines that until now were not included in the region’s competitions.
The Games, which could tentatively be called the Patagonian Integration Games, will be aimed at the U-14 and U-16 categories, in line with the Evita National Games, and will include individual disciplines. These will be: table tennis, badminton, Olympic lifting, taekwondo, wrestling, artistic gymnastics, tennis and archery, all in both branches. Two of these would also be confirmed in adapted mode.
It should be noted that the contest would have its first edition between August and September, so as not to coincide with other relevant sporting events on the calendar, and would convene delegations from Neuquén, Río Negro, Santa Cruz, Tierra del Fuego, Chubut and La Pampa.
These new games will be added to the existing ones already organized by the Entity: the Patagonia Games since 2006 and the Araucanía National Games that had their first edition in 2021 and could continue this year in the event that the Chilean delegations do not confirm their participation.
