The Indians struggled to beat a combative Sarmiento

Moreno’s team had to work more than necessary to beat Santos Lugares by 76-69. Piaggio and Marín Lucero were the scorers with 14 points each.

In a tight match, one of those in which the hoop is getting smaller and smaller, those led by Juani González had to redouble their efforts to prevail against Institución Sarmiento, who held on as long as they could and sold their defeat dearly. Paredes, Martirena and Giambroni joined the scorers with 13 units. The youth also added 11 rebounds to total 23 PIR. The Cocha-Kot duo led the Green Plague offensive with 21 and 14 respectively.

From the opening jump, it was an erratic matchup, defenses prevailing over offense. But above all things, with very low field percentages, in that environment Giambroni (4) was the one who provided some clarity for Moreno’s men. Antony González (4) brought parity through runs in the first boy’s end (15-15).

In the second chapter, the tone of the meeting did not change, Juani González searched the bench for solutions that never came. Sarmiento found in a good passage by Cocha (7) a reliable way of scoring, and escaped 21-17 with 3:05 to play. The return of the starting lineup gave a bit of air to the Indígena who, after a three-pointer by Paredes, sealed the 26-26 long break.

After talks in the changing rooms, the figure of Cocha (7) would emerge to advance the visit, but the answer would come from the spicy hand of Marín Lucero (5). From there, changes in leadership on the scoreboard were commonplace. The aim was fine-tuned to reach a closed scoreboard (48-47) in favor of Institución Sarmiento, at the close of the third.

In the last ten, Kot (9) appeared in all his splendor to get the maximum (55-51) for Santos Lugares. However, Los Indios continued to struggle and began to show glimpses of their quality. He got strong back, to start flowing forward. Great passage and Piaggio (7) well accompanied by Paredes (8) to return the advantage and arrive with air to the last minutes. Cocha (4) tried to put up a fight with his penetrations, but the damage was already done. El Indígena did not fail from the line and sentenced a hard-fought victory by 76 to 69.
