Ukrainian striker celebrates goal with message

He played against Ajax in the premier class. However, there is a crisis in Roman Yaremchuk’s homeland. The Ukrainian therefore had a special message after his goal – which Uefa does not like.

He scored the equalizer to make it 2-2 in the Champions League against ajax Amsterdam on Wednesday evening. After that, Benfica’s striker Roman Yaremchuk had a special message for his home country. The Ukrainian cheered by showing his shirt undressed and in underneath T-Shirt with the coat of arms of Ukraine. He held the black shirt with the white crest up to the camera.

He later wrote on Instagram: “I’m Ukrainian and I’m proud of that. As I’m thousands of kilometers away from my home country, I want to support all those who are currently in tension in their home country. Now is the time to to unite. This is our country, our history, our culture, our people and our border. I want to thank our defenders for their courage. Glory to Ukraine.”

Yaremchuk was only briefly seen on TV with his message, since the direction of the European Football Association (Uefa) quickly steered the camera to something else. Several fans wrote this on the social network “Twitter” and posted pictures of the gesture. Players are prohibited from making political messages in the context of football. Yaremchuk must therefore expect a penalty.

He also said on “CNN Portugal”: “I wanted to support my country. I’ve thought about it a lot and I’m afraid of the situation. The club supports me, they spoke to me and wanted to do everything they could to help me.”

President of Ukraine has declared a state of war

The home country of the centre-forward is currently controlled by Russia threatened. The Russian President Wladimir Putin had the independence of the separatist regions on Monday Donetsk and Luhansk in eastern Ukraine and ordered the deployment of Russian soldiers. According to Western information, Russia has around 150,000 soldiers on the border with the Ukraine drawn together.
