Itinerary of the Champions: Mondeville receives 6 great Judo champions

Mondeville, 1time stage of the Itinéraire des champions: an exceptional judo event in the presence of 6 great champions!

Initiated and supported by French Judo Federationl’Champions route is a sports and civic tour of 24 stages in France. Organized jointly by the Normandy Judo Leaguethe Calvados Judo Committee, theUSOM Judo and the City of Mondeville, this tour will begin on the 1is and March 2 in Mondeville. Two days to celebrate and promote the values ​​of this discipline.

Moment of sharing and exchange, this event will be conducive to the initiation of audiences far from the practice, to social inclusion and citizenship, to the development of sport health well-being and to intergenerational and cultural transmission around judo values.

The greatest judo champions, past and present, go out to meet all the judokas of the department and the people of Mondevillais, to make young and old dream, judo amateurs or non-practitioners and share a unforgettable experience.

The team of champions present in Mondeville for the 1ʳᵉ stage of the 2022 tour is made up of:

  • Cecile Nowak : winner of the Grand Slam of Paris, European, World and Olympic Champion
  • Cathy Arnaud : winner of the Grand Slam of Paris, Olympic Medalist, European and World Champion
  • Faiza Mokdar: French champion and European junior champion
  • Guy Delvingt : winner of the Grand Slam of Paris, Champion of France and Champion of Europe
  • Guillaume Chaine : French champion and Olympic champion
  • Cyrille March : winner of the Grand Slam of Paris, French champion and Olympic medalist

This delegation will be accompanied by two Norman athletes from Team Normandy:

  • Romaric Bouda : champion of France seniors 1time division, French junior champion and European cadet champion.
  • Yasmine Horlaville : vice-champion of France seniors

Kodomo, panda-fox born in Japan and official mascotwill also be present alongside the champions and will introduce the world of Judo to young and old.

The program

Day 1 – Tuesday 1is mars 2022

  • Judo initiation workshops supervised by the champions with Mondevillais pupils from the elementary schools of Les Tilleuls, Paul Langevin and Lucie Aubrac at the Halle Bérégovoy
  • Discussion time between residents and champions and awareness workshop to learn how to fall without getting hurt at the EHPAD La Source
  • Prestige evening which will bring together the champions, partners, companies, institutions and actors of the territory having an impact on the image and the development of judo on the territory.

Day 2 – Wednesday March 2, 2022

  • Visit to patients undergoing treatment and following the Adapted Physical Activity (APA) program and to caregivers at the François Baclesse Center in Caen: judo demonstrations, answering questions, signing session and photos with the athletes.
  • Initiation workshop supervised by the champions for people with disabilities at the Halle Bérégovoy
  • Great show with licensed Calvados children aged 6 to 12. On the program, many workshops supervised by the champions: technical demonstrations, moments of judo culture on videos and fun team meetings which will oppose the champions to the Kodomo Team (small judokas).

In a few numbers :

  • 356 children from Mondeville educated in elementary
  • more than 1,000 children made redundant of the Department
  • 40 people with a disability
  • and more than 20 seniors

will be able to live a unique experience and spend a privileged moment alongside the champions during these two days.
