Coming Home: A Chat with Former Reims Cup’s Star Pitcher Olivier Dubois

Welcome back, baseball fans! This week, we have a very special guest joining us. Olivier Dubois, former star pitcher for the Reims Cup’s and a local legend, is here to talk about the exciting developments happening with his former club.

Olivier, thanks for joining us.

Olivier: Glad to be here, and thanks for having me.

Let’s dive right in. The Reims Cup’s are back in action after a tough year due to the pandemic. It seems like they’re coming back stronger than ever with some aspiring plans. What are your impressions of the club’s direction?

olivier: I’m excited about what I’m seeing. The club is showing real ambition, and that’s something I think was missing for a while. Opening a dedicated Baseball park is a massive step. It sends a message that baseball is here to stay in reims.

Speaking of which, the new park is generating a lot of buzz. How important is a dedicated facility for a club like the Reims Cup’s?

Olivier: Absolutely crucial. It provides a proper home for the players, something they can be proud of. It also elevates the club’s image in the community, attracting new fans and potential future players. And don’t forget, hosting the French U10 Championship is a fantastic way to showcase the sport to a younger generation. That’s how you grow the game.

This year, the senior team is competing in the R2 league. Realistic goals for the season, Olivier?

Olivier: They need to be consistent. The R2 league is competitive; there are some strong teams. If they focus on developing their younger talent and playing smart baseball, I believe they can surprise a few people.

I know you have a lot of experience playing in Reims. do you think the community is embracing baseball the way it deserves?

Olivier: I think so, slowly but surely. having a bigger platform with the new park is going to make a huge difference.People need to see the excitement, the passion of the game. I believe it has the potential to really take hold here.
