On the 17th, the Japan Paper Ishinomaki Baseball Club, a professional baseball team, prayed for victory at Kashimamiko Shrine in Hiyorigaoka 2-chome, Ishinomaki City. The team aims to participate in the Intercity Baseball Tournament and the Japan Championships in the main race. Through the Shinto ritual, the players renewed their determination to grab national tickets.
Thirty-two people participated, including director Naoki Maeda, players, and Shinichiro Nakamura, Ishinomaki Plant Manager of the Japan Paper Ishinomaki Plant. I prayed for the victory of this season in uniform.
Last year, when they were expected to participate in the main competition of the city competition for the second consecutive year, the team lost in the second qualifying Tohoku tournament. The Japan Championship was lost in qualifying.
Director Maeda, who has been in office for the sixth year, said, “This year, we will aim for the final selection as the minimum goal. We want to make a monolithic team centered on the captain and players so that we can demonstrate our strength at the last minute.”
Yuki Suetake, who will be the captain from this season, said, “I want to gain confidence by winning anyway in order to become a team that can win at Tokyo Dome.” He said, “I want people all over the country to know that Ishinomaki is a wonderful area by calling the team name on the national stage.”
This year’s slogan for the team is “Emancipate passage!”. We welcomed three new players: pitcher Ryogo Akita of Chuo Gakuin University, catcher Koichi Sato of Chuo Gakuin University, and Shohei Miyagawa infielder of Teikyo University.
