Standard’s appeal for canceled goal against Cercle deemed “admissible but unfounded”

On February 5, the Standard and the Circle had shared 1-1. In the last moments of the game, the referee of the game Mr. Lawrence Visser canceled a goal from the head of Moussa Sissako, after intervention of the VAR, for a millimeter offside. The next day, Standard announced its intention to file a complaint for this match. The Arbitration Department of the Belgian Union subsequently ruled that Sissako was not offside.

“The Federal Rules clearly provide for the consequences of any erroneous decisions by the referee and stipulate that in the case of decisions concerning facts in connection with the game, as in the present case (goal scored / offside), no adjustment of the result of a match is not possible because there is no possibility of appeal (Art. B6.120 of the Federal Regulations)”, indicates the Disciplinary Council in its verdict.
