But will there be such a major transformation in June that many are calling for? Yes, a new president will be voted on, but the remaining ten members of the executive committee, a kind of hockey government, will remain in office until 2024.
“Tomáš Král is resigning, his seat is vacant and two options have been considered. Either to continue the provisional regime to the regular election general meeting in 2024 with the vice-presidents divided, or there was a second chance that this year’s review conference will take place And the executive committee unanimously approved this second option, “Zdeněk Zikmund, the association’s spokesman, told Sport.cz
Thus, Thursday’s decision cannot be taken as a revolution in June and the delegates should vote for a completely new leadership, even if existing members may be present. “Only” the president will be elected, who can be nominated by any of the union members, which are clubs or regions. The current member of the Executive Committee may therefore also be elected to them.
But the question, of course, is how the executive committee would react if the movement elected a president who would be a major critic of their work.
On Thursday, the hockey rulers also dealt with the transfer regulations and the much-criticized payment of education. Now they have taken note of the proposal, according to which the upbringing would be paid only after reaching the age of 20 and only for the players of the three highest competitions. The clubs that raised them would be reimbursed gradually and depending on how long the player grew up in their educational system. The proposal also includes leveling the conditions for the involvement of domestic and foreign hockey players, who are favored in the current system.
