Daria Saville and Sloane Stephens play each other for a place in the semifinals of the Guadalajara Open. The Australian came through 6-1, 6-3 in 67 minutes in her second round match against Caroline Dolehide on Thursday.
Saville reaped further rewards when it came to picking up points on her second serves. She won 71% of her second serve points versus the American’s 26%. In terms of break points, Saville saved three of the four break points she faced while converting five of the six break points on Dolehide’s serve.
Meanwhile, sixth-seeded Stephens defeated France’s Chloe Paquet 7-5, 6-4 in an hour and 51 minutes in their second-round match. Stephens hit 77% of her first serves to 55% of Paquet and won 58% of her points on first serves to 46% of Paquet.
While Stephens lost her serve three times over the course of the match, she also broke Paquet five times. Defending champion Sara Sorribes Tormo also reached the quarter-finals on Thursday. The Spaniard, third seed in the draw, needed an hour and 25 minutes to beat Magdalena Frech.
Sorribes Tormo lost her serve just once in the match, converting six of the 11 break points she had on the Pole’s serve.

Sorribes Tormo will face Marie Bouzkova for a place in the semifinals.
The Czech advanced to the quarterfinals on Wednesday with a 7-6(2), 6-2 win over Italy’s Lucia Bronzetti. At the bottom of the draw, Anna-Karolina Schmiedlova and Qiang Wang are playing for a place in the semi-finals.
Before that, both the Slovakian and the Chinese reached the quarterfinals on Wednesday. Schmiedlova defeated Anastasia Potapova 6-3, 7-6(5) while Wang ousted Harmony Tan 6-4, 6-2 in their respective round of 16 matches.
The final quarterfinals at the Guadalajara Open will be played between fourth-seeded Camila Osorio and Anna Kalinskaya. The Russian reached the quarterfinals on Wednesday with a 6-4, 0-6, 6-4 win over Xinyu Wang.
In Thursday’s final match of the day, fourth-placed Osorio, from a set deficit, defeated Hailey Baptiste 1-6, 6-3, 6-3 in two hours and four minutes.
