Grosseto: The Bbc Grosseto closes an important transfer campaign with a bang, providing manager Jairo Ramos Gizzi with a heavy club like that of the Antillean winger Shakir Albert, one of the protagonists in 2021 in Serie A with the Godo jersey.
Born in Willemstad, Curacao on December 24, 1996, Albert signed a professional contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers at the age of 17, with whom he made his 2014 debut in the Dominican Summer League (61 games, with a batting average of 275), then move to the Arizona league in 2015 and 2016, (playing 88 games in total). In 2017 he was promoted to single A in the Great Lakes Loons: he plays 19 games with an average of 280.
The Dodgers then offered him a position as coach in the minor league for three seasons. In 2021 he decides to get back into the game, accepting Godo’s offer: with the team coached by Stefano Naldoni he disputes the scudetto poule and ends the Serie A championship with statistics of absolute respect: 320 on average, with 7 home runs and 32 beaten points at home. Sporting director Filippo Olivelli contacts him and takes him to Maremma, where he will join Loardi, Ambrosino and Chelli on the outside.
«I’m happy to have chosen the Italian championship – says Shakir Albert – the level is really good and there is a lot of competition. My goals for this season are to stay healthy and do whatever it takes to help the team win ».
«In recent weeks I have studied Grosseto a bit – continues the winger resident in Curacao – a beautiful area, where the weather is good for playing baseball, I think it will be fun. I can’t promise the fans anything, but I invite them to come and see us: it will certainly be a great season ».
