The Argentine National Team changes days to play Venezuela for the South American Qualifiers

The match for the South American Qualifiers for Qatar 2022 had to be played on March 24, but due to a request from Human Rights organizations it will go to 25.

With the Qualification for the Qatar 2022 World Cup already assuredthe Argentine National Team will face the last two games of the South American Qualifiers against Venezuela and Ecuador, next month. The first was going to be in the province of Santiago del Estero, although the venue could change, while the farewell will be in the city of Guayaquil.

The Argentina National Team vs Venezuela: the last official in the country before Qatar 2022

The match against José Pekerman’s Venezuela will be the last official of the Argentine National Team in the country before the World Cup in Qatar, because afterward he could only play a friendly match as a farewell.

The match between the Argentina National Team and Venezuela was going to be played on March 24, but AFA asked FIFA to change the date to Friday the 25th due to a request made by the Human Rights Organization not to play on Memory Day.

The President of the Argentine Football Association, Claudio Tapia, accompanied by one of the Vice Presidents of the institution, Marcelo Achile, held a meeting with the Secretary of Human Rights of the Nation, Horacio Pietragalla Corti, after confirming the transfer of the match from the date of the South American Qualifiers heading to Qatar 2022 from March 24 to Friday 25 where the Argentine National Team will face Venezuela (venue to be confirmed).

The change of date had been a special request from the Human Rights Organizations —which was carried out thanks to a joint effort by the AFA and the Human Rights Secretariat— so that on March 24, Memory Day for Truth and Justice can carry out all the acts in commemoration of the disappeared men and women of the last civic-military dictatorship.

During their meeting this morning, Tapia and Pietragalla Corti announced that the AFA and the Human Rights Secretariat will start working together on actions related to the promotion of human rights in Argentine soccer. The objective of the announcement seeks to reaffirm and deepen the commitment between sport and human rights and is part of the public policies of Memory, Truth and Justice that are carried out in our country.

Ecuador will receive the Argentine National Team in Guayaquil

The last date of the Argentine National Team (they will still have to play the match against Brazil) will be against Gustavo Alfaro’s Ecuador, who made the decision not to play at the height of the city of Quito.

The match, which will be played from 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 29, will take place in the city of Guayaquil and Ecuador hopes to reach that commitment with qualification for the Qatar World Cup in its pocket.
