He had traveled to Ukraine to sign a contract with a football club. Now is Abdullah Dogan landed in the middle of the war. The German soccer professional is scared to death.
Abdullah Dogan played in the youth and in the second team of Werder Bremen, his sporting future should lie with the Ukrainian first division club Metalist Kharkov. For this reason, he traveled to Kharkov at the beginning of the week to sign his contract.
On Thursday, however, he wanted to make his way back to Germany because of problems with his passport and the increasing risk of war in Ukraine, as reported by “Bild”. But that was no longer possible, the war had broken out. Since then, the German citizen has been stuck in Kharkov in eastern Ukraine, staying in subway tunnels for protection.
“I sleep on the subway”
Dogan on “Bild”: “If I had known what would happen, I would never have traveled here. I’m shocked. I saw tanks and helicopters at the airport. I sleep in the subway because shots can be heard outside. It seems safer than houses.”
According to the report, Abdullah Dogan asked the German authorities for help with the exit. “I’m afraid that I won’t see my fiancĂ©e and my siblings again. I’m very worried about my life,” he said.
