Biathlete Mareček became the junior world champion in the endurance race

Twenty-one-year-old Mareček won in front of a pair of Norwegians. Seventeen seconds slower was Vetle Paulsen, Martin Uldal lost over half a minute. Tomáš Mikyska won 11th place with three mistakes on the shooting range, Jakub Kocián took 26th place and Ondřej Mánek finished 33rd.

“Even before the race, I realized that I was one of the favorites, that I could even win if I shoot well. That’s why we didn’t think I could win with two mistakes. But the others were also wrong and I got a chance. While waiting “I was very nervous at the finish, but coach Michael Malek told us that no one was running for the title from behind the starting field. With every other opponent in the finish, those feelings of happiness multiplied,” said Mareček on the union’s website.

The last Czech world title, Markéta Davidová, won the last junior world title in Estonia four years ago in a fighter race. Among the juniors, Petr Hradecký rejoiced for the last time, who sixteen years ago also dominated sprinting on American soil in Presque Isle.

Voborníková moved to the USA from the Beijing Olympics. After the first two clean items, she made a mistake once in the penultimate and last shooting. The third was with a gap of 53.7 seconds behind the winning Lisa Maria Sparkova from Germany. The silver was won by the Frenchwoman Oceane Michelon.
