Elina Svitolina will donate the prize money from her upcoming tournaments

After a complex start to the season on the circuit, marked by early defeats (she has not been able to string together more than two wins in a row in any of the four events she has played), the former No. 3 in the ranking is preparing to debut on the WTA in Monterrey, contest in which he celebrated the championship during 2020.

Before beginning her adventures in Latin American lands, the native of Odessa launched a statement on social networks to express support for Ukraine through an initiative linked to tennis: will donate the prize money of the next tournaments in which he participates. “I am far from my loved ones, from my people, but my heart has never felt so full and accompanied by you,” she commented.

Near the end of the letter, Elina explained that one of the reasons that led her to make the decision to make available the earnings she obtains from competing will be to collaborate in the humanitarian tasks carried out in her country.
