No suspense at the Jonsson Workwear Open, JC Ritchie, who was 10 strokes ahead of his pursuers before the last lap, won.
If the South African was imperial all week by returning three cards of 61 (-9), 63 (-9) and 65 (-7) without the slightest bogey over 54 holes, the 28-year-old player had more wrong this Sunday on the course of the Durban Country Club. Ritchie completed his first nine holes in +1 and couldn’t launch the birdie machine.
But his early lead was too big to worry about. If Christopher Mivis returned at one point to just 5 shots from Ritchie, the return of Sud Af’ in -2 (3 birdies for a bogey) definitively sealed the victory of the 196th player in the world.
The 9-time winner on the Sunshine Tour ends his tournament with a last card of 71 (-1). With a final score of -26, the native of Sanderton wins with 6 strokes ahead of Mivis author this Sunday of a card of 66 (-6). Haraldur Magnus also returns a 66 (-6) which allows the Icelander to finish 3rd, 7 strokes behind Ritchie.
JC Ritchie wins for the second time in two weeks and lifts his 4th title on the Challenge Tour.
