PSG-Saint-Etienne (3-1): the ratings of Parisian players

A short period to scare yourself and another to enchant the Parc des Princes. A week after the defeat in Nantes (3-1), PSG returned to victory ahead of Saint-Étienne (3-1) thanks to the essential Kylian Mbappé and a finally released Messi.

Donnarumma: 5.5. The Italian did not display the same serenity as usual for his return to the cage. But he made up for his small hand error by taking out a huge parade at the feet of Youssouf (12th). He can do nothing about the opening of the Saint-Etienne score (16th), but imposes himself on the center-shot of Nordin (25th).

Sweeper : 2,5. The German side lived a nightmarish first half hour. His pass back full axis, very close to being intercepted sent shivers through the Parisian defense (5th), before Bouanga put him to death. Replaced by Di Maria (5) (46th), entered in the role of right piston, and whose direct corner is returned by the post (60th).

Marquinhos: 6. His explosive and authoritarian return to Boudebouz (1st) should have set the tone for his match. But having to bail out the sinking on the right, it was sometimes less sovereign. Like his opening for Mbappé (30th), his crosses are still just as precious, as is his desire, which he has for a moment, put at the service of his midfield in lack of energy.

Kimpembe: 7. “La Force” perfectly justified its nickname. Bouanga taken over with authority on a tackle of which he alone has the secret (8th), then Nordin, who suffered the same fate in the area (27th), understood that the boss of the defense, this Saturday evening, wore number 3 in the back !

Mendes : 5. The Portuguese hasn’t been as sharp as in recent weeks. Hardly put to use by Stéphanois who leaned to the right, he did not bring enough danger offensively. Replaced by Bernat (81st).

Wijnaldum : 3.5. The weeks pass and are too similar for the Dutch environment. After a complicated outing in Nantes, this time it was almost ghostly for a long time. His impact is non-existent or almost and his few attempts at deflections, in particular that on Neymar (80th) or his post (90th + 2), are not enough.

Danilo : 5,5. His huge mistake, which allowed Bouanga to open the scoring, could have weighed him down. But the Portuguese saves his game by raising his head in the second half in a three-man defense. Not content with becoming the second best Parisian scorer in L1 by scoring his fifth goal, he plays the citadels in front of Hamouma (68th).

Gueye : 5. Two and a half months since the African champion had not played a Ligue 1 match at the Parc des Princes. Back to the position of left torchbearer in the absence of Verratti, he galloped, trying to give juice to this apathetic midfield in the first period.

Messi : 7,5. Without having been brilliant, the Argentinian had delivered three assists in the first leg. This time, we found a bit of the Messi that the football world loves. His first deep assist for Mbappé is a delight. And what about the second when, in the heart of a forest of legs, his double hook wreaked havoc.

Mbappe: 8.5. A statue should be erected to him. And quick. The PSG Big Boss was once again the man of the match. He joins Zlatan Ibrahimovic as the club’s 2nd top scorer by scoring his 155 and 156th goals. To magnify his evening, he delivers a magic decisive pass (the 16th this season) to Danilo from the outside of the foot. Replaced by Icardi (82nd).

Neymar : 6. The Brazilian has, from the start, shown his desire to take the game on his own. He stalled a lot, struggled to bring speed and explosiveness. A few well-felt passes for Mbappé (23rd) or Messi (38th) not rewarded, just like his shot on the post (80th). Replaced by Draxler (82nd).
