Hostilities are launched between Russia and Ukraine and the sports world is inevitably affected there. Several athletes fled the scene following the Russian invasion, including the son of a Hall of Famer who narrowly returned home.
Even on the NBA courts, it is difficult to miss the armed conflict between Russia and Ukraine since February 24. The second country has some of its best elements within the franchises, like Alex Len and Svi Mykhailiuk. It is therefore no surprise that several players in the big league took the floor to denounce the Russian invasion, likeEnes Freedom who massacred the politics of Vladimir Putin.
However, if there are not many of them, some US players are moving in the opposite direction in Ukraine and have inevitably seen their lives put in danger. The latter therefore did everything to leave the country as quickly as possible, in order to be able to return home. Among these, Michael Stockton, the son of the great John Stockton and who wore the colors of Boudivelnyk Kiev, obviously had flair. The capital being today taken by storm, it had thus been evacuated beforehand:

Michael Stockton, the son of NBA Hall of Famer and Utah Jazz legend John Stockton, has returned to the United States after leaving Ukraine last week amid fears of an imminent Russian invasion, according to a report .
Stockton is not the only American to have fled, since the ex-NBAer Archie Goodwin was also present in his team. Fortunately for him, the former Suns has already found a new base in Israel. The son of the Jazzman had meanwhile joined his new team this summer, after playing last year in France, under the jersey of Cholet. It may well be that he now regrets not having stayed in France…
What is certain is that times are decidedly difficult at the moment for his father who sees all the colors. Before having to fear for the safety of his offspring, John Stockton had indeed drawn the wrath of the US public following his position on covid-19. The most prolific passer and interceptor in history caused a big controversy with his remarks, to the point of being sanctioned by his former university. Nice start to the year…
Good news for Michael Stockton, who was able to return home before the situation turned into an international drama in Ukraine. We also wish good luck to the athletes still present there, as their lives are still in danger.
